Japanese Gift Wrapping
with Yvette Ja Studio
Learn the art of Japanese Giftwrapping in this one day course. You will learn multiple giftwrapping techniques inspired by Japanese Kimono’s and garments and decorate them with twine and wild flowers. You will also learn how to make a set of reusable origami crackers and gift tags to create a truly handmade Christmas.
Please bring a small box, (no bigger than A4) or set of books to learn the wrapping techniques.
All materials will be provided and no previous experience is necessary.
Yvette is a paper artist and bookbinder of British-South Korean origin working across installation and sculpture which explores themes which encompass hybridity, tradition, migration and preservation which relate to ‘the cultural other’ and specifically about my mixed heritage. She studied Textiles at Glasgow School of Art and graduated from a degree in Fine Art at Newcastle University.
