You might just want a relaxing week in what feels like the middle of nowhere but if you fancy exploring Northumberland we have pulled together some of our favourite places for you to enjoy
Just a two mile drive from Linnels Farm is the handsome town of Hexham dominated by the Abbey and leafy parks. Spend an afternoon discovering some of the historic buildings such as the Old Gaol, Moot Hall and covered Shambles Market which still in use today. There is a wealth of independent quirky shops our favourites include Sorella, Matthias Winter, Mr Wolf, Cogito Books, and The Grateful Bread. The Farmers Market takes place every second and fourth Saturday of the month. If you’re looking for some evening entertainment look to The Forum Art Deco cinema or the Queens Hall Arts Centre which has a great programme of events drama, comedy and musicals and it’s a quick 5 minute journey back in a taxi. Supermarkets in Hexham include Waitrose, Tesco, Co-op, Marks & Spencer and Aldi
Corbridge is 3 miles away: the quintessential English village complete with honeycomb stone houses, a market square, church and Pele tower, old pubs and a wealth of independent boutiques, shops and delicatessen. Our favourites include Corbridge Cookshop, Corbridge Garden Room, Dyvels, RE, Acanthus, Corbridge Larder and Forum Books. If you’re not interested in shopping then saunter down to the 17th century bridge to enjoy the spectacular view of the Tyne and enjoy a river walk.
